The call, (081) 248-7387, was discovered by tellows users to be a business called "Cell Direct," headquartered in Observatory, and has been contacting individuals using personal information allegedly sold by Telkom. One man, claiming to be from Telkom Mobile, called an MTN number and offered a contract upgrade and a new phone, quoting the recipient's Telkom number. When the recipient suggested visiting a Telkom store for the upgrade, the caller rudely cut the call. Reporting these actions to POPI enforcement could be beneficial to address the misuse of personal data.

    Telkom Mobile sales. Never stops calling up to 3 calls a day. Blocked the number months ago, but they continue calling.

    This caller (apparently Telkom) has been harassing me for years. They don't even wait for me to answer before cutting the call. I look forward to dumping Telkom as soon as it suits me.

    The man said that he was from Telkom mobile and wanted to assist me with an upgrade on my contract and a new phone. He called me on my MTN cell no. and quoted my Telkom cell number with which I have contract with. When I told him that I would go into the Telkom store myself and do an upgrade, he rudely cut the call.
